Die zweibändige Normensammlung "Rohstoffe für Beschichtungsstoffe" vermittelt einen Überblick über aktuell gültige Anforderungs- und Prüfnormen für Beschichtungsrohstoffe. Alle Dokumente sind im Originaltext, verkleinert auf das Format A5, enthalten. Das DIN-Taschenbuch 117 versammelt die national geltenden DIN-Normen zur Bestimmung physikalisch-chemischer Kenndaten einschließlich der Anforderungen an Rohstoffe für Lacke und ähnliche Beschichtungsstoffe. Gegenüber der Vorauflage sind 12 der insgesamt 61 Dokumente durch aktuelle Fassungen ersetzt worden. Um den neuesten Stand der Normung abzubilden, hat man zusätzlich zu den noch geltenden Fassungen zwei Norm-Entwürfe aufgenommen (E DIN 55673:2016-11, E DIN 55939:2017-01). Neu hinzugekommen ist ein Schnellverfahren zur Bestimmung der Hydroxylzahl (DIN 53240-3:2016-03). Die europäisch und international harmonisierten Normen sind im DIN-Taschenbuch 201 zusammengefasst.
