Der Doppelband verschafft einen Überblick über die verschiedenen Verfahren der Entsalzung. Darüber hinaus wird über neue Methoden der Entsalzung nachgedacht; dabei soll besonderes Augenmerk auf die Umwandlungsverfahren unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Mikrobiologie geworfen werden. Dies geschieht unter der Fragestellung, wie mit Hilfe von Kompressen unter Zugabe von denitrifizierenden Bakterien ein Nitratabbau in oberflächennahen Wandbereichen erzielt werden kann.
