1.1 This test method describes the procedures required to carry out a pure-culture study for evaluating the biodegradation of degradable plastics in submerged culture under aerobic conditions. Degradation will be evaluated by weight loss, tensile strength loss, percent-elongation loss and changes in molecular-weight distribution. 1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems, if any, associated with its use.
