Significance and Use | ||||||||
5.1 The vertical compression test for geocomposite pavement panel drains is intended to simulate vertical, horizontal, and eccentric loading resulting from an applied vertical load. The results of the analyses, including vertical strain of the panels and core area change, may be used as an index test. The vertical compression test may be used to evaluate core area change for a given load. 5.2 The vertical compression test may be used to evaluate percent vertical strain for a given load. 5.3 This test method may be modified to evaluate core area change and vertical strain under various backfill conditions. |

1. Scope | ||||||||
1.1 This test method covers vertical strain and core area change of geocomposite pavement drains, such as those included in Specification D7001, under vertical compression. 1.2 The values as stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee. |
