Significance and Use |
3.1 These test methods are used to evaluate the properties of self-adhesive modified bituminous membranes. The results determine compliance with the applicable specifications, or they can be used for comparative analysis. 3.2 The test methods apply to “as manufactured” material and may not apply to material that has been weathered or is past the manufacturer’s recommended shelf life. |
1. Scope |
1.1 These test methods cover test procedures for prefabricated, reinforced, self-adhesive (SA) polymer-modified bituminous sheet materials designed for single- or multiple-ply application in roofing and waterproofing membranes. 1.2 These test methods specifically address the self-adhesive characteristics of modified bituminous sheet materials, and are intended as a supplement to those found in Test Methods D5147/D5147M. 1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure conformance with the standard, each system shall be used independently of the other, and values from the two systems shall not be combined. 1.4 This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee. |
