Norma stanoví zásady pro kreslení vodovodních schémat a výkresů vodovodních řádů a objektů v projektové dokumentaci vodovodů. Zásady pro kreslení vnitřních vodovodů stanoví ČSN 01 3450. Norma nestanoví, které přílohy má projektová dokumentace obsahovat a ani neurčuje obsah jednotlivých druhů výkresů. Poměrně rozsáhlá norma obsahuje jak pokyny pro označování, provádění výkresů i schémat, ale i (v přílohách A až N) příklady různých situací. ČSN 01 3462 byla vydána v prosinci 1994. Nahradila ČSN 01 3462 z 20.11.1984
