Norma je překladem ST SEV 6589-89. Do normy je doplněno v čl.1.1 doplňující ustanovení označené "čs. doplněk". Norma platí pro kovy, slitiny, kovové povlaky a stanoví všeobecné požadavky na jejich laboratorní korozní zkoušky v kapalinách a kondenzujících parách. V článku 1.1 se odkazuje na ČSN 01 8003, jíž je třeba dodržovat při provádění zkoušek. ČSN 03 8135 byla schválena 14.5.1990 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1991. Nahradila ČSN 03 8135 z 24.10.1984
