Norma platí pro pojiva na výrobu brousicích nástrojů, neplatí pro brousicí pomůcky a diamantové kotouče. Ve všeobecné části jsou normalizovaná pojiva roztříděny podle původu a v další kapitola - technické požadavky - složení, vlastnosti a použití, jsou jednotlivá pojiva blíže popsána. Podle původu jsou normalizována pojiva anorganická (například keramická a magnezitová), dále organická (např. pryžová nebo z fenolformaldehydové pryskyřice) a speciální (např. polyuretanová, epoxidová, šelaková, silikátová a polyvinylformalová - PVFM) ČSN 22 4028 byla schválena 5.1.1989 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1990. Nahradila ČSN 22 4028 ze 14.11.1960
