V této normě (a v ČSN 26 9343) jsou zapracovány údaje z ST SEV 2471-80. Jak je to v takových případech obvyklé, jsou ustanovení ČSN, která jsou shodná s normou RVHP, vyznačena po straně silnou čarou. (Z textu normy je patrno, že jen asi 3 články jsou oproti normě RVHP navíc). U některých technických požadavků je jasné, že jejich zachováním se zvyšuje bezpečnost práce. Ergonomickými otázkami se norma nezabývá. Recenzována je pro kompletizaci souboru technických norem pro výrobky, jejichž použití vede k odstranění fyzické námahy. ČSN 26 9340 byla schválena 26.9.1980 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.7.1981. Nahradila částečně ČSN 26 9350 z 26.1.1979 a ČSN 26 9351 z 2.11.1978
