Norma stanoví názvy a definice základních druhů silničních vozidel. Česky a slovensky je uvedeno názvosloví. Česky je definováno cca 150 hesel. U řady hesel jsou také nákresy. Pro informaci jsou uvedeny - bohužel jen u některých hesel - ekvivalentní názvy v angličtině, francouzštině, němčině a ruštině. ČSN 30 0024 byla schválena 14.9.1981 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.4.1983. Nahradila ČSN 30 0024 z 20.12.1967.
"Změnou a)-5/1991" se s účinností nahrazuje u čl. 36 jak název, tak definice novým textem. (Týká se článkového, dříve kloubového, autobusu.
