Norma platí pro připojování, usazování a umisťování všech elektrických strojů točivých a netočivých včetně výkonových transformátorů, reaktorů, tlumivek, výkonových polovodičových měničů, silových kondenzátorů a pohonů s elektromotory. Jsou normalizována jednak základní ustanovení pro všechny druhy strojů, jednak doplňující ustanovení pro jednotlivé druhy strojů. Konečně zvláštní požadavky jsou normalizovány pro elektrické pohony s jmenovitým výkonem do 100 kW, napájenými z rozvodné sítě nízkého napětí. ČSN 33 2190 byla schválena 19.12.1986 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.11.1987. Nahradila ČSN 34 1025 z roku 1965 a ČSN 34 1350 z roku 1962
