Norma je překladem ST SEV 5554-86 s čs. doplňkem v informační příloze č. 2, který se netýká ochrany zdraví. Norma RVHP platí pro izolátory mechanického kmitání (dále jen izolátory) zhotovené z pryže nebo jiných elastomerů. Při zkouškách se měří rozsah statického zatížení, statická charakteristika, dynamická tuhost, charakteristika tlumení a minimální vnitřní frekvence. Norma nejen stanoví požadavky na měření, ale ve čtyřech (informativních) přílohách uvádí i příklady určení charakteristik tlumicích sil, dynamické tuhosti izolátoru a jejího vyhodnocení, příklad pro určování minimální vlastní frekvence izolátoru aj. ČSN 35 6854 byla schválena 31.8.1987 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1989
