Touto normou se zavádí ST SEV 2002-79 jako ČSN, jíž se pro potřeby tehdejší ČSSR (ČSFR), resp. ČR norma RVHP nedoplňuje. Norma RVHP platí pro kovy vysoké čistoty, u nichž obsah normovaných nečistot je menší než 1.10-3 %. Stanoví velmi podrobně požadavky na přípravu a odběr vzorků, čistotu chemikálií i obecné požadavky na odběry a provedení zkoušek. ČSN 42 0601 byla schválena 22.4.1982 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1983. Nahradila část 1 návrhu ČSN 42 0600 z r.1975
