Tato norma platí pro stanovení sypné hmotnosti vyráběných druhů černých a hnědých uhlí a lignitů pro zvláštní účely. Sypná hmotnost podle této normy odpovídá objemové hmotnosti volně sypaného uhlí ve vrstvě tloušťky 0,5 m. Sypná hmotnost je základní hodnotou pro výpočet hmotnosti při inventarizaci tříděných druhů na malokapacitních skládkách, pro výpočet objemu zásobníků, apod., a je výchozí hodnotou pro výpočet průměrné objemové hmotnosti paliva skládek energetických druhů.
