Obsahuje obecné požadavky na chemikálie, laboratorní odměrné nádobí, ale i na koncentrace a jejich vyjadřování, požadavky na provádění slepých zkoušek, kontroly přesnosti výsledků apod. ČSN 44 1701 byla schválena 11.5.1987 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.7.1989. Nahradila v ČSN 44 1701 z 6.7.1977
