Poměrně stručná norma v 21 článcích specifikuje základní bezpečnostní požadavky, chránící obsluhu především před mechanickým úrazem. Hygienické požadavky norma neobsahuje. ČSN 49 6101 byla schválena 7.7.1989 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.6.1990. Nahradila část I., II. a III. ČSN 49 6101.
