Norma tedy stanovuje zásady pro postupy při provádění některých zkoušek (metod) zjišťování a/nebo ověřování znaků jakosti, důležitých z hlediska hygieny výživy. ČSN 56 0185 byla schválena 31.12.1981 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.4.1983. Nahradila čl. 5 až 18 ČSN 56 0186 ze 10.5.1967
