Norma platí pro výrobu, zkoušení a dodávání plastových výrobků tvářených. V čl. 7 je výslovně uvedeno, že materiál na výrobky, určené pro přímý styk s poživatinami, musí odpovídat příslušným směrnicím ministerstva zdravotnictví. (V Dodatku jsou pak citovány jednak směrnice č. 49/1978 sb. Hyg. předp., jednak úprava č. 36/1977 Vest. MZ SSR, které obsahují hygienické požadavky na plasty a předměty z plastů, přicházející do styku s poživatinami.) ČSN 64 0011 byla schválena 25.4.1991 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.2.1992. Nahradila ČSN 64 0011 z 16.2.1967
