Norma platí pro stanovení kyanovodíku ve zplodinách hoření plastů metodou spektrofotometrickou. Podstata zkoušky: Vzorek se spálí a vzniklé spalné produkty se jímají v roztoku hydroxidu sodného, kde se vzniklý kyanovodík absorbuje za vzniku kyanidového iontu. Ten se převede na komplexní ion kyanonikelnatý, který se stanoví spektrofotometricky v UV oblasti. Postup při provádění normalizované zkoušky je podrobně popsán. ČSN 64 0758 byla schválena 16.3.1979 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.3.1980
