Touto normou se zavádí ST SEV 897-78 jako ČSN, jíž se pro potřeby tehdejší ČSSR (ČSFR), resp. ČR norma RVHP nedoplňovala. Norma RVHP platí pro polyethylen a předepisuje postup pro stanovení odolnosti proti korozi za napětí. Podstata i provedení normalizované zkoušky je podrobně popsáno. ČSN 64 0766 byla schválena 18.5.1979 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1980. Nahradila čl. 102 až 107 ČSN 64 3010 z 15.8.1973
