Norma platí vodu destilovanou získanou v destilačních aparaturách a určenou pro laboratorní použití.Jde samozřejmě o látku zcela netoxickou; přesto je v příloze alespoň upozorněno na dodržování ustanovení ČSN 01 8003 - Zásady pro bezpečnou práci v chemických laboratořích a dále je připomenuta povinnost organizací vypracovat pro pracoviště, kde se destilovaná voda připravuje pokyny pro bezpečnost a ochranu zdraví při práci. (Tato povinnost vyplývá - s ohledem na stav platný od r.1990 - z ustanovení § 273 odst. 2) zákoníku práce a není ji třeba v technické normě opakovat.) ČSN 68 4063 byla schválena 9.3.1982 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.5.1983. Nahradila ČSN 68 4063 z 7.11.1956
