Tato první část normy platí pro stanovení oxidu křemičitého fotometrickou metodou ve výluzích, získaných po zkoušce odolnosti povrchu skleněných výrobků proti vodě. Příslušné hranice oxidu křemičitého jsou uvedeny v příslušných normách předmětových. Norma je zaměřena na stanovení křemičitanů a kyseliny křemičité. Postup při provádění normalizované zkoušky je podrobně popsán. Norma obsahuje informační přílohu: "Bezpečnost a ochrana zdraví při práci" kde je upozornění na ČSN 01 8003 a dále na dráždivost redukčního roztoku a jedovatost fluoridů. ČSN 70 0527 část 1 byla schválena 8.12.1986 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.12.1987. Nahradila spolu s částmi 2 - 7 starší ČSN 70 0527 z r.1973
