Tato čtvrtá část normy platí pro stanovení oxidu železitého fotometrickou metodou ve výluzích, získaných po zkoušce odolnosti povrchu skleněných výrobků proti vodě podle ČSN 70 0529. Přípustné hranice oxidu železitého jsou v příslušných předmětových normách. Metoda je v normě podrobně popsána. Norma obsahuje informační přílohu: "Bezpečnost a ochrana zdraví při práci", která upozorňuje na ČSN 01 8003 a na narkotický účinek chloroformu, s nímž je třeba pracovat v digestoři. ČSN 70 0527 část 4 byla schválena 8.12.1986 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.12.1987. Nahradila spolu s ostatními částmi 1 - 3 a 5 - 7 starší ČSN 70 0527 z r.1973
