Touto normou se zavádí ST SEV 746-77 jako ČSN, jíž se pro potřeby tehdejší ČSSR (ČSFR), resp. ČR norma RVHP nedoplňovala. Jsou normalizovány metody (celkem tři) a způsob vyjádření výsledků. Hodnocení normalizováno není. Postup při provádění zkoušky je podrobně popsán. ČSN 70 0593 byla schválena 21.2.1980 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.7.1980.
