Tato část normy platí spolu s ČSN 70 0600 pro stanovení oxidu barnatého v přítomnosti oxidu olovnatého v těch typech skel, u nichž je její použití předepsáno v normě pro rozbor příslušného typu skla. Principem je oddělení olovnatých iontů srážením sirovodíkem a následné vysrážení barnatých iontů kyselinou sírovou na nerozpustný síran barnatý, který se odfiltruje, promyje, vyžíhá a zváží. Postup při provádění normalizované zkoušky je podrobně popsán. ČSN 70 0637-2 byla schválena 18.6.1986 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.7.1987
