Norma platí pro výpočet tepelné zátěže a tepelných zisků prostorů se stálou vnitřní teplotou. Výsledky výpočtů slouží jako podklad pro dimenzování klimatizačních zařízení. Norma je použitelná pro prostory, v nichž se předpokládá že rozdíl teplot ve dvou místech nepřekročí 2 K. Velmi podrobná norma obsahuje zásady pro výpočet, údaje o tepelných ziscích od vnitřních zdrojů tepla, údaje o tepelných ziscích z vnějšího prostředí, tzv. vodní zisky a řadu příloh s příklady výpočtů a nomogramy. ČSN 73 0548 byla schválena 11.11.1985 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.7.1986. Nahradila ČSN 73 0548 z r.1976
