Tato norma uvádí požadavky na kontrolu a údržbu ocelových konstrukcí a doplňuje ustanovení ČSN EN 1090-1 a ČSN EN 1090-2+A1 o problematiku, která v nich není obsažena. Dále uvádí požadavky na projektovou dokumentaci a na dokumentaci, která vzniká v průběhu provozu ocelových konstrukcí. Stanovuje rovněž požadavky na odbornou způsobilost osob provádějících kontrolu, opravy a údržbu. Tato norma platí především pro konstrukce vyrobené z konstrukčních ocelí podle norem řady ČSN EN 10025 a ocelí podle dříve platných obdobných norem. Tato norma se nevztahuje na mostní konstrukce a konstrukce, pro které platí ustanovení ČSN 73 2603
