Norma stanoví terminologii základních tesařských spojů dřevěných stavebních konstrukcí. Pro navrhování dřevěných konstrukcí s tesařskými spoji platí ČSN 73 1701. Pro provádění dřevěných konstrukcí s tesařskými spoji platí ČSN 73 2810. Jsou (méně obvykle než v jiných názvoslovných normách) normalizovány termíny, definice a obrázky základních druhů tesařských spojů. Je uvedeno cca 72 hesel a obrázků k nim. ČSN 73 3150 byla vydána v červenci 1994. Nahradila ČSN 73 3150 z 15.12.1959
