Tato norma popisuje zkoušky asfaltových směsí, které nejsou uvedeny v evropských normách pro zkoušení asfaltových směsí řady ČSN EN 12697. Dále obsahuje informativní návod pro návrh asfaltové směsi.

Norma je revizí původní normy ČSN 73 6160 Zkoušení silničních živičných směsí, schválenou 27.10.1986 s účinností od 1.3.1988. Důvodem pro provedení revize je zavedení evropských norem pro zkoušení asfaltových směsí řady ČSN EN 12697 do normové soustavy ČR.
