Tato norma popisuje metodu PERLA určenou pro odběr vzorků makrozoobentosu z broditelných tekoucích vod. Za broditelné se považují ty vodní toky, které může hydrobiolog ve vysokých holínkách nebo v brodicích kalhotách přejít alespoň do poloviny šířky toku za normálního vodního stavu, tj. asi do 1 m hloubky (rychlost proudu do 1 m.s-1). Odběr se doporučuje provést za normálního, popřípadě podnormálního vodního stavu.
