Norma platí pro výrobu, zkoušení a dodávání obuvnických rámových tříslených usní z hovězin. (Nejde o usně chromočiněné, odpadá tedy problematika chromu.) Ve stručné normě jsou stanoveny technické požadavky a zkoušení. ČSN 79 2185 byla schválena 27.12.1983 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.5.1985. Nahradila ČSN 79 2185 z 26.9.1955.
