Norma platí pro výrobu, dodávání a zkoušení boxů a dalších obuvnických vrchových usní z chromitých teletin, hladkých a tlačených, upravených od lícové strany, s lícem podle čl. 9, s povrchovou úpravou podle čl. 10 a v provedené podle čl.11. Z tabulek hodnot fys.a chem. vlastností vyplývá, že obsah oxidu chromitého je normalizován na 4,6 - 8,1 %, ale obsah vyluhovatelného chromu na max. 100,00 µg.g-1. Tato zkouška se provádí podle ČSN 79 3873. ČSN 79 2231 byla schválena 13.8.1982 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.5.1983. Nahradila ČSN 79 2231 z r.1955
