Norma platí pro výrobu, dodávání a zkoušení boxů a dalších obuvnických vrchových usní chromitých z hověziny, hladkých a tlačených, upravených od lícové strany, s lícem podle čl. 12, s povrchovou úpravou podle čl. 13 a v provedení podle čl. 14. Z tabulek hodnot fyzikálních a chemických vlastností vyplývá, že obsah oxidu chromitého je normalizován na 4,0 - 7,5 %, a obsah vyluhovatelného chromu na max. 100,00 µg.g-1. Tento ukazatel se zkouší podle ČSN 79 3873. ČSN 79 2242 byla schválena 13.8.1982 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.5.1983. Nahradila ČSN 79 2242 z r.1955
