Norma platí pro výrobu, dodání a zkoušení tříslených ortopedických usní z hovězinových vazů a krajin. Nejde tedy o usně chromité, není normalizován obsah chromu. ČSN 79 2810 byla schválena 6.9.1983 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1985. Nahradila ČSN 79 2810 a ČSN 79 2811, obě z 26.6.1956.

"Změnou a)-9/1985" se s účinností od 1.10.1985 mění ustanovení čl. 15: "Požadavky na tloušťkoměr pro měření tloušťky usní stanoví ČSN 79 3809"
