Norma platí pro stanovení stálosti úpravy kožešin při stírání za sucha nebo mokra na Chailově přístroji. U kožešin s upravenou srstí se stírá srst, u kožešin s upraveným řemenem se stírá řemen, u kožešin s upraveným řemenem i srstí se stírá řemen i srst. Podstatou zkoušky je stírání povrchu úpravy zkušebního tělesa suchou nebo mokrou keprovkou a porovnání intenzity získaného zabarvení na keprovce s šedou stupnicí. ČSN 79 3852 byla schválena 4.1.1991 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.10.1991. Nahradila ČSN 79 3852 z 10.11.1976
