Norma platí pro stanovení obsahu oxidu sírového v odpadních plynech. Při rozboru je nutno dodržet ustanovení ČSN 83 4711 části 1 a 2. Podstata stanovení: Obsah oxidu sírového se zjistí výpočtem jako rozdíl celkového obsahu kyseliny sírové a oxidu sírového stanoveného podle části 5 a obsahu kyseliny sírové stanovené podle části 4. (Stručná, dvoustránková norma.) ČSN 83 4711 část 6 byla schválena 21.4.1982 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.3.1983. Nahradila ČSN 83 0210 z 10.12.1963
