Tato norma předepisuje dvě metody přípravy vzorků ocelí pro stanovení kyslíku, které jsou vhodné zvláště při jeho obsahu pod 0,0050 %. Norma platí pro oceli o tvrdosti nižší než 400 HBW 10/3000. Po odebrání příslušného počtu částí ze vzorkovaného kusu odřezáním mechanickou pilou se vzorky pro vlastní analýzu připravují buď vyrážením (metoda A) nebo soustružením (metoda B).
