Tato norma stanovuje minimální požadavky a kritéria pro klasifikaci a měřicí postupy pomocí profilometrů, určených pro měření příčných a podélných profilů nerovnosti a megatextur. Měření nerovností lze provádět pomocí statických nebo dynamických zařízení. Norma zahrnuje vysokorychlostní, nízkorychlostní a statická měřicí zařízení. Norma obsahuje doporučení pro jejich verifikaci a kalibraci. Tuto normu mohou používat správci PK, správy letišť, výrobci zařízení a další organizace k definování schopností měřicího zařízení používaného ke sběru dat nezbytných k popisu povrchu vozovky.
