Tato norma určuje referenční metodu používanou pro zkoušku typu a v případech sporu pro posouzení vlivu kameniva na smršťování betonu. Pro jiné účely, zejména pro řízení výroby se mohou použít jiné metody za předpokladu, že byl stanoven vyhovující vztah s referenční metodou. Metoda je založena na zkoušení betonu stálého složení s maximálním zrnem kameniva 20 mm.
