Norma platí pro jiné použití kulatiny na nosné účely než je stanoveno v EN 12509. Tato zkušební norma uvádí zkušební metody pro stanovení těchto vlastností kulatiny na nosné účely: pevnost v ohybu, modul pružnosti v ohybu; pevnost v tlaku rovnoběžně s vlákny a modul pružnosti v tlaku rovnoběžně s vlákny. Kromě toho je specifikováno stanovení rozměrů, vlhkosti a hustoty zkušebních prvků. Tyto metody platí pro odkorněnou kulatinu.

Norma není určena pro účely zkoušek kontroly jakosti.
