Tato norma specifikuje metody stanovení potenciálu materiálů obsahujících sulfidy k tvorbě kyselých výluhů. Jsou specifikovány metody stanovení kyselinotvorného potenciálu (AP) a neutralizačního potenciálu (NP) materiálu. Z těchto výsledků se vypočte čistý neutralizační potenciál (NNP) a koeficient neutralizačního potenciálu (NPR). Tato norma je použitelná pro všechny odpady obsahující sulfidy z těžebního průmyslu, kromě odpadů, které mají hodnotu pH < 2 v počátečním kroku postupu
