Norma je identická s EN 26777:1993. Specifikuje molekulární absorpční spektrofotometrickou metodu stanovení dusitanů v pitné, surové a odpadní vodě. Norma popisuje podstatu zkoušky: "Dusitany ve zkoušeném objemu vzorku reagují v přítomnosti kyseliny fosforečné při hodnotě pH 1,9 s 4-aminobenzen-sulfonamidem za vzniku diazoniové soli. Tato sůl tvoří s dihydrochloridem N-(1-naftyl)-1,2-diaminoethanu (přidávaného spolu s 4-aminobenzensulfonamidem) růžové zbarvení. Absorbance zbarvení se měří při 540 nm". Podrobně je popsán postup zkoušky. ČSN EN 26777 (75 7452) byla vydána v září 1995. Nahradila část 23 ČSN 83 0520 z 31.5.1976 a část 24 ČSN 83 0530 z 27.10.1978
