Tato evropská norma týkající se kabelových systémů (kabeláže) počítá se širokým rozsahem činností a volbou příslušných částí může být použia pro některou nebo všechny tyto činnosti, jako jsou například:
- - pořizování opěrných konstrukcí kabelu;
- - pokládka kabelu;
- - ukončování kabelů.
Tento pokyn se zabývá instalací silových kabelů do 20,8/36(42) kV včetně a dodávkou a instalací ovládacích kabelů a kabelů měření, ovládání a instrumentace. Dodávkou silových kabelů se zabývá EN 45510-2-8.
