Norma je českou verzí evropské normy EN 60838-2-1:1996. Evropská norma EN 60838-2-1:1996 má status české technické normy. Oznámení o schválení: Text mezinárodní normy IEC 838-2-1:1994 byl schválen CENELEC jako evropská norma bez jakýchkoliv modifikací. Tento oddíl IEC 838-2 platí pro objímky S14 určené pro vestavění jakož i pro samostatné objímky pro žárovky pro všeobecné osvětlování. Samostatné objímky se též zkouší jako svítidla. Norma má stejnou osnovu jako ČSN EN 60838-1. Většinou platí ustanovení této "kmenové" normy, protože ČSN EN 60838-2-1 jsou uvedeny ve většině kapitol jen menší změny. ČSN EN 60838-2-1 (36 0385) byla vydána v prosinci 1997
