Tato část souboru norem ČSN EN 61375 se vztahuje k datové komunikaci v otevřených vlacích, tj. zahrnuje datovou komunikaci mezi pevnými sestavami otevřených vlaků a datovou komunikaci v rámci pevných sestav otevřených vlaků. Aplikace této normy na vlakovou komunikační sběrnici (WTB) umožní interoperabilitu jednotlivých pevných sestav otevřených vlaků v mezinárodním provozu. Datová komunikační sběrnice uvnitř pevných sestav (např. MVB) je uvedena jako doporučené řešení, které je v souladu s TCN. V každém případě bude muset dodavatel prokázat kompatibilitu mezi vlakovou sběrnicí WTB a navrhovanou sítí sestavy. Tato norma smí být dále aplikována na uzavřené vlaky a na vlaky z více jednotek, jestliže se tak odběratel a dodavatel dohodl
