Tato norma představuje předmětovou specifikaci produktu pro 8pólové konektory, které jsou určeny k přenosu dat s kmitočty až do 600 MHz. Pokrývá ochranné kryty zdokonalených existujících 8pólových stíněných a nestíněných konektorů, využívajících rozhraní popisovaná v souboru IEC 60603-7 pro krytí IP65/IP67 podle IEC 60529 pro použití v průmyslovém prostředí. Kryty pokrývají různé typy zajišťovacích mechanizmů v souladu s tímto dokumentem a různé typy montážních konfigurací a typů vývodů jejichž podrobnosti jsou uvedeny v souboru IEC 60603-7. Společné spojovací konfigurace všech variant jsou definovány v IEC 60603-7. Spojovací rozměry krytů podle kapitoly 3 umožňují splnění spojovacích podmínek podle IEC 60603-7. Plně sestavené varianty (konektorů) popsané v tomto dokumentu zahrnují pevné a volné konektory plně shodné se souborem IEC 60603-7
