Tato mezinárodní norma stanovuje požadavky pro návrh, materiály, konstrukci, instalaci a zkoušení trvale instalovaných palivových soustav určených pro spalovací motory. Tato norma platí pro všechny části trvale instalovaných naftových a benzinových palivových soustav, od plnicích otvorů pro palivo k místu spojení s pohonným nebo pomocným motorem (motory) na malých plavidlech o délce trupu až do 24 m, poháněných vestavěným nebo přívěsným motorem. Požadavky pro návrh, materiály, konstrukci a zkoušení trvale instalovaných pevných palivových nádrží jsou uvedeny v ISO 21487:2022
