Norma specifikuje všeobecné postupy nanášení žárově stříkaných povlaků, jejichž účelem je zlepšení vlastností povrchu součásti nebo oprava opotřebených a nevyhovujících dílů. Stanoví všeobecné podmínky pro výběr postupu nástřiku a materiálů. Nevztahuje se na žárově stříkané povlaky zinku a/nebo hliníku určené na ochranu ocelových konstrukcí proti atmosférické korozi, pro které platí ČSN EN ISO 2063. Norma rovněž neplatí pro povlaky z natavitelných slitin, které jsou následně přetaveny (tento postup je pokryt ČSN EN ISO 14920)
