Tato mezinárodní norma stanoví zrychlenou zkoušku, s použitím dusičnanu rtuťnatého, pro zjišťování výskytu zbytkových (vnitřních) napětí v tvářených hutních výrobcích z mědi a slitin mědi, které by mohlo způsobit porušení materiálu v provozu nebo při skladování napěťovými korozními trhlinami. Pokud je tato metoda používána pro zkoušení montážních sestav a montážních částí, ačkoliv není pro takové účely určena, mohou být pro takové použití požadovány některé modifikace.
