Tato norma specifikuje gravimetrickou metodu stanovení obsahu celkového uhlíku v hmotnostních procentech v karbidech a tvrdokovech. Tato metoda je vhodná pro karbidy chromu, hafnia, molybdenu, niobu, tantalu, titanu, vanadu, wolframu a zirkonu, směsi těchto karbidů s kovovými pojivy neobsahujícími mazivo, všechny jakosti předslinutých nebo slinutých tvrdokovů, které se z těchto karbidů vyrábějí a jejichž obsah celkového uhlíku převyšuje 4 hm. %
